What is [The Way of The Consummate Strategist]?
Source: [http://senseis.xmp.net/?MilitaryProverbs]
Military proverbs and wisdom by (ancient) Strategists that apply to the macro game of life:
Sunzi quotes in terms of "order of precedence".
If you know yourself as well as your enemy,
then you do not need to fear the result of 100 battles.
-- by Sun zi
/// Know when to fight and when not to.
Who gathers first at the battle arena, expecting the enemy, is relaxed.
Who arrives last and throws himself into a battle too fast, will exhaust.
-- by Sun zi AoW ..Chapter 4
The highest form of generalship is to balk the enemy's plans.
The next best is to prevent the junction of the enemy's forces.
The next in order is to attack the enemy's army in the field.
And the worst policy of all is to besiege walled cities.
-- by Sun zi, AoW, Chapter 3
No ruler should put troops into the field merely to gratify his own spleen.
-- by Sun Zi, AoW, Chapter 12
Don't move unless you see an advantage,
Don't use your troops unless there is something to be gained.
Don't fight unless the position is critical.
-- by Sun Tzu, AoW, Chapter 12

PLAYING THE PREPARATION GAME
"The professional plays and completes the "preparation" game way before the 1st move of the real game is ever played. While amateurs decides on the "preparation" game after the 1st move of the real game is being played. ... Should we be the professional or the freaking amateur?"
///
#1 Be prepared in everything one do.
The secret of good preparation is to stay focused, while minimizing the interferences, avoid the non-essentials.
Always Simplify! Minimize! Optimize (SMO).
In my case, like to use a Master set of lists (tactical specifics), a master set of task lists for each project.
Other pointers:
No TV viewing unless it's necessary
Reading the news first (The brain digests information faster than anything else).
Listening the news is the next best option.
Viewing news is the worst way to secure information.
Pointers on absorbing and re-transforming information (visually):
1. Focus on diagramming your ideas.
2. Start with a "noun &/or pronoun to verb" hierarchical format then to a "verb to noun&/or pronoun" format (next layer).
3. "SMO" to a max of a 3 page format.
Through ZhengXin, always control your time, space and intent.
