Best Practice (4): Neutralize Information Overload

A Pragmatic View to Neutralize Information Overload

People moves fast (esp. in Silicon Valley). But things moves faster in a microprocessor-driven global economy. While news alerts are pinging in your email address every 30 mins and maybe your competition is catching up. Information Overload is bad. How does one keep up?

Take a step back. Center yourself. Relax. Ground yourself. Calmness comes. Do you feel yourself as a ["whole"]. Can you view the "Big Picture"?

It's important f/ one to know themselves as in their conscious well-being, their achievements, their setbacks, their network, etc.

This mode of self-conscious perception allows one to know their limitations, their strengths and how it interacts with their external settings. Depending on the person, it might takes a great deal of time.

Once that level of self realization is achieved, it's all about staying focused on the current moment.

This Cardinal believes in proactive and sound preparation in receiving and transmitting information in a ["symmetrical, reflexive and transitive"] way.

In my case, develop a Mind Manager-driven ["News Alerts"] mind map that receives news alerts through Google, NYT, etc. Mind Manager has the great capability of hyperlinking to web sites and email addresses.

As some of this blog readers and my associates knows, this Cardinal uses his MindManager software as a facilitator for creating, learning and communicating shared knowledge within his circle of allies.

While TV distribution of news is so slow, basic and a time-killer that this Cardinal secures his news alerts through the radio then the web. This access of information is faster and not sensor-abusive.

My favorite radio is the C Crane radio. Their technology is A1. A great unit to have for emergencies.

###

News media-driven Information has a way to repeating itself every season that it is important to have a grand plan that allows one to focus on their vision of the future and certain news filters are designed toward the criteria of the grand plan.

###

Always have a plan to prioritize your information needs, filter out the information overload, be alert and consciously anticipate events without stressing yourself. Remember, certain news events has a way of repeating itself.

fyi- Have a tendency to listen to two different radio stations concurrently.

Listening to Mozart or Bach while working on a document is fun. It's quite relaxing and productive to listen to a good book on tape while doing manual labor.

###

Reminder: Never emphasized too much on an information gear that does everything. In most cases, it doesn't.

###
Have a good week and don't get cluttered w/ information overload.
