The basic approach to read the eight classics is to read Sun Zi Art of War (AoW) first, then Wu zi, Sima Fa, Wei Liao-tzu, Sun Bin, Questions and Replies, Huang Shek Gong and finally Jiang Tai Gong's Six Strategies.
Sun Zi AoW gives one an overview on what is proper strategic thinking. While Jiang Tai Gong (JTG) gives a top down perspective on establishing the big picture then working down to the details.
If one is interested in becoming a grand strategic thinker while being a ultra specialist, start with JTG and then work down the list.
